When it comes to running a business, there is no rhyme or reason to thinking small. Your business will only come a cropper down the line, because you have probably played it safe within your decisions, failed to think of the future, and ignored suggestions that may have helped your business grow beyond its humble beginnings.
You see, the bigger your mindset, the better chance of success. While nobody can fully determine the future, you still have an opportunity to grow if you contemplate on the possibilities on how that might happen. Many businesses fail because they haven’t removed themselves from their limited surroundings, both literally and metaphorically. They have found themselves lacking against online giants such as Amazon, those behemoths who have dared to expand their reach into all facets of business. To avoid being crushed underfoot yourself, it is time to shift your attitude if you are restricting yourself with a small-minded approach.
Think big about your marketing, daring to be creative about the way you promote your business. Listen, leaflet drops are fine, and your website is one of your best tools, but can you do more? Why not rent or hire event equipment and take to the stage at an organised event. Invite your nearest and dearest, as well as industry bigwigs, and wine and dine them before taking their breath away with a top-notch presentation. Or why not consider viral marketing, doing something that will make people take notice of you, wowing them with an act of unbridled brilliance. Be creative, be bold, be different.
Think big about the service you are offering. What can you do to change and grow? Think about new markets, be they local or abroad, and commit to researching those demographics who could (but aren’t yet) committed to your business. Look at your business premises and ask yourself if it’s sufficient for your future needs. By moving to bigger and better premises, you may be able to do more than you are doing now, with greater scope for yourself, customers, and staff. And on the subject of your staff, do more to help them, growing their potential, so they become better workers than they already are. Invest in training for them and yourself, looking for those courses that will both extend your skill set and develop your business.
Think big when it comes to your profit margins. Don’t be happy with the trickle of money you have coming in each month, but do more to rake in extra cash. Your marketing is part of this, but there are further ways you can generate a bigger cash flow. Explore further facets of your business and take it into new avenues, invest a share of your profits on the stock market or into a new startup. Look at the following ways to increase revenue. You are going to need the money to support your big thinking, so consider the options available to you.
Have that big mindset. Be positive and eliminate feelings of doubt or the idea that your dreams are impossible. Look for solutions to anything that may be holding you back. Visualise your future without placing any constraints on what it might look like. What do you want your future to look like? Where do you want to be? What can you do to get there? What can you do to benefit your life and the lives of others? These are big questions but ones worth asking. Set large goals, pin them to your workstation and remind yourself of them every day. They will provoke you into bigger thinking, and provided you don’t stay rooted where you are; you may be able to reach them. You see, to achieve your dreams, to beat the competition, and to grow yourself as well as your business; you need to think big. And you can start the process of doing so today.
