We all love going out for a drink or two, don’t we? What could be better for letting go of the workday? Heck, you’ve probably been dreaming about that frosty glass of white wine since arriving in the office. So, when you and your work colleagues get out of work, a local bar is an obvious stop on the way home.
There’s just one issue; you drove to work, and you can’t be bothered to tackle public transport. You only had two anyway, right? Well, okay; two and a half. Perhaps three. But, that’s only a teeny amount over the limit. You’ll be fine to drive home. All the better for getting back soon and settling into your evening, right?
The trouble is, landing yourself with a drink-driving charge is no way to get home fast. In fact, this could see you spending the night in a cell and you might need the services of a truck accident lawyer like coinjurylaw.com. Even once released, you’d have to take time seeking a criminal defense attorney and attending court to clear your name. So, that ‘fast’ way to get home could take months from your life as well as losing your licence. It hardly seems worth it, does it?
With that in mind, we’re going to look at a few ways you really could get home fast after stopping for an after-work drink. And, guess what? Not one involves drunk driving.
Limit yourself
It’s easy to succumb to the pressure of drinking more when everyone else is. But, by limiting yourself to one drink, you can get home in top-time without having to worry. In many ways, this works out as the best of both worlds. You get that all-important team bonding time. You also get the relief of a nice cold alcoholic beverage. But, you don’t have to deal with any of the negative implications which come with it. In fact, by saying no to drink number two, you can get home even sooner than you would have otherwise. What’s not to love about that?
Arrange a lift with a designated driver
If you’ve had a really hard day, one booze fix probably wouldn’t do the trick. In that case, consider how you’ll get home ahead of time. Ask around the group to see if there’s another designated driver who could give you a lift. Sure, you would have to leave your car behind. But, that’s a small price to pay. You never know; the driver in question may even be able to give you a lift back the next day if you ask nicely. Then, you can drink without worry.
Order a taxi
At the very least, you could always order yourself a taxi. There’s no denying that this could cost. But, it’s a small price to pay for your safety. Besides which, you’ll often find this isn’t much more expensive than public transport, especially if you share the bill with other colleagues. By all putting in together, you could even get a taxi back the next day. What’s so difficult about that?
